Research & Development Food Science Intern

Nature Soy LLC is looking for a Research & Development Food Science Intern to conduct research for product innovation, support R&D initiatives and the execution of new product launches from concept to commercialization. This will encompass understanding the intricacies of the recipes, safeguarding the recipes, cooking products, and maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace. Ideal candidates will have formal culinary experience, be detail-oriented, have strong organization skills, be skilled communicators, and love making plant-base products. This position will report to Research & Development Manager with the following principle duties.

  • Vegan/plant base food and beverages making experience preferred
  • Assist with development of production procedures
  • Assist in product quality and flavor improvement projects
  • Provide input on bench top formulations that balance product function, flavor, cost of goods, and manufacturing capabilities to produce the best possible product
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date laboratory notebooks and records in accordance with company product development processes
  • Assist with running experimental and pilot scale testing of new and/or improved product concepts

  • Currently pursuing a Science related Degree, Food Science or Culinary Art field strongly preferred
  • Must be willing to travel between headquarters in Philadelphia and sister company in Parsippany NJ (approx. 10%)
  • Extreme awareness of how to keep confidential and sensitive information
  • Must be detail-oriented and someone that strives for perfection, consistency, and reproducibility
  • Reliability in managing multiple situations simultaneously and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong planning, prioritizing, organization, and problem-solving ability
